Weight Loss Naturopath Adelaide

Weight Loss Coach Adelaide | Christina Ettore

If you have been looking for a weight loss coach in Adelaide who does more than hand you a meal plan and tell you to move more, you are in the right place.

I’m Christina, and I have spent over 14 years helping women in Adelaide and across Australia understand why their body is holding onto weight and what to actually do about it. My approach combines the investigative depth of naturopathic medicine with the practical, personalised guidance of weight loss coaching, because sustainable results require both.

What a Weight Loss Coach in Adelaide Actually Does

A good weight loss coach does not give you a generic programme and wish you luck. The women I work with have almost always already tried the programmes. They have counted calories, cut carbs, done the challenges, hired the personal trainers, and still cannot get lasting results. That is not a motivation problem. That is a sign that something physiological is driving the resistance, and no amount of coaching will override it until that something is found and addressed.

As a weight loss coach in Adelaide my role is to investigate what is actually happening in your body, build a plan that works with your physiology rather than against it, and support you through the process of making changes that stick. This means looking at your hormones, your gut health, your metabolic history, your stress load, your sleep, your relationship with food, and the patterns that have developed over years of dieting before we talk about what to eat.

Who I Work With

Women who have tried everything and are still not losing weight. If your weight has stopped responding to approaches that used to work, or never worked in the first place despite genuine effort, there is a physiological reason. Finding it is the starting point.

Women using GLP-1 medications like Ozempic or Mounjaro. GLP-1 medications can be a powerful tool for weight loss but they work best when supported by a comprehensive nutritional and hormonal strategy. Without that support, muscle loss, nutrient depletion, gut side effects, and rebound weight gain after stopping are all common outcomes. I work with women on GLP-1 medications to maximise and protect their results.

Women coming off GLP-1 medications. One of the most common concerns I hear from women using GLP-1 medications is what happens when they stop. Without addressing the hormonal, metabolic, and dietary drivers that contributed to weight gain in the first place, rebound is very common. Naturopathic weight loss coaching builds the foundations that make it possible to maintain results independently.

Women with hormonal weight gain. Estrogen dominance, insulin resistance, high cortisol, low thyroid function, PCOS, and perimenopause all create hormonal environments that actively resist weight loss. Standard coaching advice does not account for these patterns. My approach does.

Women with a history of yo-yo dieting. Years of restriction, low calorie eating, and extreme diets slow the metabolism, disrupt hormones, damage gut integrity, and dysregulate the nervous system in ways that make every subsequent attempt at weight loss harder. Metabolic repair is a core part of the work I do with women who have been caught in this cycle.

GLP-1 Weight Loss Support in Adelaide

GLP-1 receptor agonists including semaglutide, liraglutide, and tirzepatide have changed the conversation around weight loss significantly. They work by regulating appetite, slowing gastric emptying, and improving insulin sensitivity, and for many women they produce results that nothing else has.

What they do not do on their own is address the underlying hormonal, gut, and metabolic drivers that contributed to weight gain in the first place. This is where naturopathic weight loss coaching makes a meaningful difference.

As a weight loss coach in Adelaide working alongside GLP-1 medications, my focus is on:

Protecting muscle mass GLP-1 medications reduce appetite significantly, which can lead to inadequate protein intake and accelerated muscle loss. Muscle is metabolically active tissue that directly supports your metabolism, and losing it makes maintaining weight loss far harder long term. Getting your protein and strength training right while on these medications is essential.

Managing gut side effects nausea, reflux, constipation, and bloating are among the most common reasons women reduce or stop their GLP-1 dose before reaching their goal. Targeted gut support, dietary adjustments, and herbal medicine can significantly reduce these side effects and improve tolerability.

Addressing nutrient depletion reduced food intake over an extended period can lead to deficiencies in key nutrients including B12, zinc, magnesium, iron, and fat-soluble vitamins. Monitoring and addressing these is important for energy, mood, metabolism, and long-term health.

Building metabolic foundations blood sugar regulation, insulin sensitivity, hormone balance, and gut health are the foundations that determine whether weight loss is maintained after GLP-1 medications are stopped. Addressing these while on the medication means you are building toward independence rather than dependence.

Supporting the transition off medication for women who are reducing or stopping their GLP-1 medication, a structured nutritional and hormonal strategy significantly reduces the risk of rebound weight gain and supports the body in maintaining the metabolic improvements achieved during treatment.

My Approach to Weight Loss Coaching

Everything begins with a thorough 60-minute initial consultation. Before we talk about food, we look at your full health picture, your hormones, digestion, stress, sleep, metabolic history, and the complete story of your relationship with food and your body. If you have recent blood work, sharing it at least 48 hours before your appointment allows me to review it before we meet.

You will leave your first appointment with a personalised protocol ready to implement. This includes nutrition guidance specific to your hormonal and metabolic picture, herbal medicine where relevant, and supplementation targeted to your individual needs. Your first follow up is scheduled two to four weeks later to review your progress and refine your plan as your body responds.

This is not a six-week challenge with a fixed endpoint. It is an ongoing, responsive process that evolves as your body does.

Consultations are available in person at my clinic in Evandale, South Australia, and via Zoom for women across Adelaide and Australia.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a weight loss coach and a naturopath? A weight loss coach focuses on guidance, accountability, and strategy around food, movement, and behaviour. A naturopath investigates the physiological drivers of weight gain and treats them using nutrition, herbal medicine, and targeted supplementation. As a weight loss coach in Adelaide with a naturopathic background, I offer both in a single integrated approach, which means your plan is built on a genuine understanding of your body rather than generic coaching principles.

Can you help me lose weight if I am already on Ozempic or another GLP-1 medication? Yes. Naturopathic support alongside GLP-1 medications addresses the areas these medications do not, including protecting muscle mass, managing side effects, correcting nutrient depletion, and building the hormonal and metabolic foundations that support lasting results. Many women find that naturopathic support significantly improves both their experience on the medication and their outcomes after stopping.

I have been told my blood tests are normal but I cannot lose weight. Can you still help? Yes. Standard blood tests use broad reference ranges designed to identify disease rather than reflect optimal function. I use functional reference ranges which are significantly narrower, and I look at patterns across markers rather than isolated results. Clinically meaningful imbalances that are driving weight resistance are frequently visible within the standard normal range when reviewed through a functional lens.

How is your approach different from a standard weight loss programme? Most weight loss programmes start with what you should eat and how much you should move. My approach starts with why your body is holding onto weight. That investigation, combined with a personalised plan that addresses your specific hormonal, gut, and metabolic picture, is what produces results that last beyond the programme itself.

Do you offer weight loss coaching online? Yes. Zoom consultations are available for women across Adelaide and Australia and are identical in depth and quality to in-person appointments.

How long does it take to see results? Most women notice meaningful improvements in energy, cravings, and digestion within the first two to four weeks. Weight loss typically follows as the underlying drivers are addressed. I work with clients across a minimum of three months because the kind of change we are building takes time to establish properly.

Do you support women through perimenopause and menopause? Yes. Hormonal weight gain during perimenopause and menopause is one of the most common presentations I work with. The metabolic and hormonal shifts of this life stage require a specific approach that accounts for changing estrogen and progesterone levels, insulin sensitivity, adrenal function, and muscle preservation, all of which I address as part of a personalised weight loss coaching protocol.
